Excellent for home use or for kids - dojo use can be punishingOct 18, 2010

We use these pads on a daily basis at a Kung Fu club. When the pads are new, they do a good job at absorbing the impact, even from heavy adult kickers. However, these pads seemed to break down quickly, and when they do, they are absolutely punishing for the person holding the bag.
I believe the bags would be great for home use (even for adults) and for kids. However, if you are buying these pads for club/dojo/daily use, for adults, then be prepared to replace them relatively regularly.

Great for my boys!Dec 05, 2009
By Doofusdan My sons (5 & 8) and I are taking karate lessons, and after a few times trying to use sofa cushions as an improvised kick/punch target, we needed the real deal! This was a very good buy.
Warning: this pad does not magically overcome the laws of physics (especially Newton's!) so if an 80lb boy kicks the shield when a 40lb boy is holding it - better have a clear space behind!

Great pad, and durable, but a little too slim for most adults.Jan 14, 2011
By Jarad I love the way this shield is built, and the fact that it has many handles on its back for a wide range of workouts. However, its width makes the handles narrow for most adult hands. Also, it is not ideal for actual kicks because of its width. It is very hard to make contact with your shin and not have your foot wrap around the pad and hit the person holding it. Overall though, its sturdy and I have no desire to return it whatsoever.

Good Shield for the average Martial Arts personSep 24, 2011
By heavyd I bought this Kick Shield for my teenage son to practice with. It has held up pretty well for a couple of months. I like the various handles, but one of them seems to be already comming off. My son and his friends are pretty heavy users (5 days a week) of the shield so it maybe they over do it. Good for beginners or light users.

Quality piece!Mar 10, 2009
By L. Owens The upholstering of this pad is amazing, and it has more handles than I can think of ways to use them! It's actually tougher than I need, but I like it so much and the price was so great, that I'm keeping it. There are even mesh vents at the bottom to let air out on impact. Definitely agree with the previous review: Superior product. Can't wait to see how it wears.
